8 Fool Tarot Meanings: Love, Outcomes, Feelings & More!

The meaning of The Fool Tarot card is ‘beginnings.’ When The Fool makes an appearance in your Tarot reading, it means you’re about to go through a transitional period. There will be changes in your life, whether in your love life, career, friendships, or family. The Fool can be negative or positive depending on the context and surrounding cards.

The Fool’s General Tarot Meaning

When The Fool shows up in a Tarot reading, it often does so during a time when you’re moving from one stage in life to the next. You will be like The Fool, with a metaphorical bag of tricks on your back, ready to embark on a journey. You’ll feel a burning desire to try something new. Take a leap of faith and go for what you want without too much, as over-assessment can lead to hesitation, and The Fool does not hesitate. If you follow your heart, all will work out well.

In Tarot, The Fool predicts a time of risks. The Fool does not promise that the chances you take will pay off, but simply represents a time when you will make the jump. If you’re playing hard to get with someone, let loose and just text them.

There’s also the possibility that The Fool reflects an inability to make concrete decisions – in the Tarot deck, The Fool is numbered zero, which in arithmancy, means that nothing has yet manifested into your reality. If you tend to sit on the fence and not take action, The Fool is warning you not to carry this behavior into the future. Because it’s the card of beginnings, this is not a good card to receive in an outcome position if starting over is not a welcoming scenario.

The Fool Tarot love and relationships
I personally feel that The Fool is an okay card to receive, but it does depend on context. If you’re starting something new, then The Fool is a good omen – however, the opposite is true if you’re reading something less established.

The Fool Love Tarot Meaning

In a love Tarot reading, The Fool is a good omen if you’re single and want a relationship. It can predict that you will be swept up by someone exciting and carefree. They will be fun to be around, and the relationship will feel like an adventure.

The Fool is not desirable if you’re looking for something more serious, as this card can represent someone with a childish predisposition coming into your life. This person doesn’t know when the party ends. However, if there are cards further in the future that have a ‘commitment’ meaning (Ten of CupsTwo of Cups), this can indicate that eventually, your Fool will want to settle down.

If you’re already in a relationship, The Fool can be fine at the beginning. However, if The Fool appears as a negative, obstacle, or disadvantage, it can mean that you or your partner does not take the partnership seriously. If The Fool lands in an outcome position, the relationship most likely does not have a future.

Are you looking for your ex to come back or for reconciliation? If you separated a while ago, The Fool means that they will reappear in your life without ill intentions, but will not always be looking for a relationship. Have you recently split up? The Fool can mean that they will breeze into your life and give you false hope.

The Fool Feelings Tarot Meaning

Are you wondering how a potential partner feels about you? The Fool is rather neutral. This person doesn’t have ill intention toward you but doesn’t feel like settling down anytime soon. They’re out for a good time. Therefore, your future with this individual cannot yet be guaranteed one way or the other.

Due to a lack of consideration, your lover may be leading you on unintentionally. On a more positive note, The Fool means they see you as someone who’s fun to be around.

The Fool Career & Business Tarot Meaning

The Fool is a good Tarot card to receive at the start of a business venture or job. Sometimes, The Fool can simply mean that you will go through a period when you will be over-enthusiastic about your work.

In general, The Fool is positive, but it can mean that, because you love your business so much, you don’t like treating it as a business. You would rather do the fun, creative stuff instead of the boring, tedious tasks. Your willingness to only do what excites you may cause problems in the future unless you can hire someone to do the things you don’t enjoy.

In a Tarot reading, The Fool can sometimes predict that you will walk away from your current career and start over. It is for this reason that The Fool can have a very positive or extremely negative meaning; it all depends on the surrounding Tarot cards, your question, and the general mood of the reading.

When it appears in business, work, or career-related readings, The Fool can predict that you will begin a new career in a separate industry or focus on a major project. Although the events that lead to this may or may not be difficult, you will eventually enjoy your new direction.

The Fool Future Tarot Meaning

When The Fool appears in a future or outcome Tarot spread position, I would say that the outcome is not yet set in stone. You should live in the present. Enjoy this partnership for what it is. For now, however, do not expect too much commitment from your partner. They are not yet ready to provide this for you.

Yes or No with The Fool

General – The Fool is not a definite yes or no, but more of a maybe. However, if your question is of a “should I?” nature, it’s a yes, because this card advises you to leap into the unknown.

Do they like me? – Yes, this person likes you and thinks you are fun to be around.

Am I pregnant? – Because it is the card of the carefree, The Fool is a no for pregnancy readings. However, if you don’t want to become pregnant, The Fool is a warning that you should use protection!

Is this relationship going to last? – Who’s to say? Go with the flow and find out!

Does the future of this look promising? – There’s no telling what’s around the corner in this situation, but you should take risks.

Am I going to reconcile with my ex? – Your ex will reappear in your life, but they are not certain if they want a relationship with you. They may lead you on unintentionally. A solid reconciliation does not seem likely.

The Fool as a Negative, Weakness, or Obstacle

In a love Tarot reading, The Fool can mean that this relationship will be a lot of fun for you. However, it can also indicate that your partner does not take your relationship seriously. The Tarot cards featured in this post can be purchased here.

The Fool will appear in a negative, weakness, or obstacle Tarot spread position when you or someone else in the situation that you’re reading about (such as your lover) does not take the situation seriously enough for it to be successful. In some cases, The Fool can even represent infidelity.

In a Tarot reading, The Fool often represents a lack of restraints and discipline. Rebellion and wildness are common Fool card meanings. Perhaps you will go through a period when you run from your responsibilities? Maybe your love interest is the one doing the running?

The Fool as a Positive, Strength, or Advantage

The Fool will appear in a positive, strength, or advantage Tarot spread position when you find fun in a situation and don’t take life too seriously. Going with the flow, living day by day, and not worrying too much about the future is the way forward.

Closing Thoughts on The Fool Tarot Card Meaning

The Fool is not a bad card to receive in your Tarot reading but its meaning does depend on the question (if any). Cards like The Fool popping up is one of the reasons why I always recommend that you ask your cards a question . Try to avoid performing readings without a question where anything goes.
